Getting things moving in a system that doesn't want to

Headshot of Camp Digital speaker Katherine Wastell

Sometimes in digital transformation the way forward can seem very obvious, but actually getting moving can seem to take even more effort. Is it the team, the task, the system or something else? Often the barrier is the culture and behaviours, and they take a long time to change. So what can you do to build momentum and take steps forward in an organisation?

In this talk we draw on our experience across the public and commercial sector to look at ways of getting change started and share approaches that have worked and failed. Doing this at a team level is tricky, doing this at a whole-organisation level is a deep-rooted challenge that takes many years of sustained effort.

Katherine Wastell is a senior director at Public Digital. She’s an experienced designer, having led design and customer experience teams in organisations that don’t understand design. Her approach focuses businesses on the needs of their customers through delivery. Katherine has worked for the Co-op, the BBC, and previously co-owned a service design agency, Play.
