Joining the Umbraco Sustainability Community Team
We’re delighted to share the news that Development Team Lead Rick Butterfield and Account Director Amy Czuba have been accepted into the new Umbraco Sustainability Community Team. The team, global in reach, comprises individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences, working towards the goal of promoting sustainability, both within the Umbraco community and the wider tech industry.
The Umbraco Community Sustainability Team
Together, the team will focus on several key initiatives, including developing resources, best practice and guidelines to assist the Umbraco community in implementing sustainable solutions. The community team aims to empower developers, designers, and content creators to make informed decisions and reduce their contribution to the carbon impact of digital.
In addition, the group will organise events and campaigns to raise awareness and foster discussions around sustainable development to empower others to adopt planet-centred approaches.
Rick brings his extensive experience and knowledge of sustainable development to the team, while Amy has a wealth of experience in strategy and communication around sustainability and carbon reduction with clients and stakeholders. Amy has also been a driving force over the past year in developing Nexer’s own internal sustainability strategy, which includes creating guidance on ways of working and practices around planet-friendly workplace habits.
Recently Rick and Amy have been touring their talk ‘Decarbonising the planet, one Umbraco upgrade at a time’. The talk covers the approach, hypotheses and outcomes of our sustainability journey with our client NCC Group, including benchmarking, recommendations and implementations that saw an overall average carbon reduction of 53% across the group’s digital estate. These achievements have been recognised within the Umbraco community, with the project nominated for a Umbraco Award, in the ‘Best Green Solution’ category at the upcoming Codegarden conference.
We’re really proud of the work that we are doing at Nexer Digital, and are excited to join Umbraco’s Sustainability Community Team. We’re looking forward to sharing more about our journey with Umbraco and making more impact within the industry.
